Which is better: Garcinia Cambogia or Green Coffee Bean?

Comparing Garcinia Cambogia and Green Coffee Bean is like comparing apples to oranges.

Typically, when people think “weight loss supplements”, they think “weight loss,” which really isn’t far from the truth.

You should remember that there are certain factors that should be considered. Such as rather they are natural or chemical based.

Are they appetite suppressants or metabolism boosters? Do they give you the jitters? Do they keep you awake at night? We could go on and on, but we think you get the point.

Product #1 : Garcinia Cambogia

Garcinia Cambogia supplements made its debut on the Dr. Oz show in late 2013.

Grown in South Asia, India, and central Africa, Garcinia Cambogia was traditionally used to add a sour flavor to popular curries and soups.

The tart taste is caused by the high levels of Hydroxycitric Acid (HCA).

Hydroxycitric acid has the ability to block the absorption of fat by inhibiting the formation of the enzyme "Citrate Lyase". Citrate Lyase is a necessary component for changing carbohydrates into fat.

So basically, hydroxycitric acid keeps citrate lyase from creating more stubborn fat.

The overall benefits of the Garcinia Cambogia supplements include:
  • Anti-depressant
  • Energy booster
  • Appetite suppressant
  • Stress reducer
  • Natural blood sugar, cholesterol, and fat regulator
Side effects can include:
  • Headaches
  • Dizziness
  • Dry mouth
  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea

The recommended dosage of Garcinia Cambogia supplements is 1,500 mg/day. With supplements containing 60% Hydroxycitric acid, that’s 900mg/day of HCA added to your diet.

Make sure to drink plenty of water and consult your primary physician before taking Garcinia Cambogia supplements.

Product #2 : Green Coffee Bean

Dr. Oz reviewed the Green Coffee Bean on his show in September 2012. Green Coffee Beans are the seeds from a fruit called Coffee Cherries.

Inside the tiny Green Coffee Beans, there’s an antioxidant called Chlorogenic Acid. Chlorogenic Acid makes up a good 6.5% of the seeds composition. This acid provides the green coffee extract its weight loss and liver cleansing abilities.

Chlorogenic acid reduces the body’s absorption of excess carbohydrates.

Chlorogenic acid helps to lower the amount of carbohydrates being absorbed, turned into glucose, and then stored as fat. It’s basically its own low carb diet.

Also, the caffeine in Green Coffee Beans is believed to boost the metabolism. A study conducted in 2012 by the Department of Human Nutrition at Wageningen Agricultural University suggests that caffeine can increase the metabolism by 4% over a 3 hour period.

Does Garcinia Cambogia and Green Coffee Beans really work?

The most common concern when trying out a weight loss supplement is not knowing if it will actually work.

Lucky for you, there have been several trials and studies completed for both Garcinia Cambogia and Green Coffee Beans.

These studies verify their weight loss properties as well as their safety.

Garcinia Cambogia studies

A study conducted in 2002 by the Central Research Laboratory FANCL Corporation in Japan analyzed the effects that HCA found in Garcinia Cambogia supplements had on visceral fat accumulation.

Using a placebo-controlled group of volunteers, the researchers were able to evaluate if any weight loss had occurred from the consumption of Garcinia Cambogia supplements.

Half of the group received 12 weeks of Garcinia Cambogia supplements which contained 1000 mg of HCA (60%) per day.

The other half received a placebo.

Compared to the placebo group, the Garcinia Cambogia group had a significant decrease in VFA, Subcutaneous Fat Area, and Total Fat Area by roughly 10%-15%.

Tthe researchers concluded that Garcinia Cambogia reduced abdominal fat accumulation.

Another study, conducted in 2000 by the Department of Foods and Nutrition at Purdue University, analyzed the effects that hydroxycitric acid had as an appetite suppressant.

It was a 12 week placebo-controlled study with 89 participants. Forty-two volunteers ingested 400mg of Garcinia Cambogia (1.2g of HCA) two times a day. Forty-seven volunteers ingested placebos.

The Garcinia Cambogia group lost between 3.1-3.7kg of fat, while the placebo group lost 2.4-2.9.

Overall, it was determined that HCA had no significant effects as an appetite suppressant.

Green Coffee Beans studies

A published study, created by the ETC Research Development team in Norway, analyzed the effects of chlorogenic acid enriched coffee on glucose absorption.

The team conducted two trials.

In the first trial, 12 healthy volunteers consumed different brands of coffee enriched with chlorogenic acid. The team noticed a 6.5% glucose absorption rate.

The second trial was a 12 week placebo-controlled study that used 30 overweight volunteers.

From this study, the team recorded an average 5.7kg weight loss from the chlorogenic acid group and an average 1.7kg weight loss from the group who was given a placebo.

With no complex results, the conclusion was that extended consumption of chlorogenic acid enriched coffee does help to decrease glucose levels in the body.

And, as a result, aid in weight loss goals.

Should You Take Garcinia Cambogia and Green Coffee Bean Together?

Can you mix Garcinia Cambogia supplements and Green Coffee Bean together for better weight loss results?

Well, combining 2 weight loss supplements for faster results isn’t a new concept.

It’s called Combo-pilling and it’s the idea that what one supplement lacks another will supply.

U.S. FDA has not approved the practice of combining two or more pills for faster, better organic weight loss results. Although, there are not enough studies to prove the effects of combo-pilling.

It’s still believed to be an effective way of losing large amounts of weight in a short amount of time.

If you’re considering combining weight loss supplements, you should always consult with your primary physician, beforehand.

So, Can You Combine Garcinia Cambogia And Green Coffee Beans?

For years, companies made a profit from the production of a mix of Garcinia Cambogia and Green Coffee Bean Extract supplements.

Unfortunately, there has not been enough research in the combo-diet to say if this is a feasible and safe way to lose weight.

At a glance, the components of the two are so different that there shouldn’t be an issue of safety.

Side effects are rare and minor. But, as always, you should check with your doctor before trying a new diet.

When combining, the appropriate dosage should be about 1000mg of Garcinia Cambogia and 400 mg of Green Coffee Extract.

They should be taken 2 times a day, 30 minutes before breakfast and dinner. Make sure to drink a large glass of water before taking them.

If you’re unsure about combining Simply Green Coffee Bean Extract or Simply Garcinia, a good practice before mixing any two diet supplements is to try them out individually for a week or two.
